GOJO was founded in 1940 in Akron, Ohio by Goldie and Jerry Lipman. The original GOJO hand cleaner was created for women working in factories during World War II. Since then, GOJO has been at the cutting edge of the hand cleanser industry eventually creating PURELL Instant Hand Sanitizer in 1988, which has become the industry standard for waterless hand washing.
