Why are some delivery services not free even though the website says free shipping?
Products such as desks, file cabinets, etc. that are too large to ship by UPS will ship to you via a local trucking/freight company. Standard delivery to the back of the truck or your loading dock is offered free of charge. Here are some reasons why we only offer this standard delivery for free.
- Freight companies charge extra for any service that exceeds what is described above. If we were to offer free liftgate service or free inside deliveries on these orders, the prices on these items would need to go up in order to offset these additional costs.
- Many of our customers have loading docks, so they do not require additional services. Therefore, it is in their best interest to pay a lower price.
- Many of our customers without a loading dock would prefer to pay a lower price and arrange to unload the item(s) from the truck themselves.
- We also have many customers that would prefer to pay more for the convenience additional services offer. For these customers, we offer upgrades for an additional fee to meet their specific needs.
